Dongfang Electric unveils 10 MW turbine

Dongfang Electric (Dongfang) has unveiled China's first 10 MW direct drive permanent magnet offshore wind turbine. The company reported that it underwent testing and is now ready for commercial operations.

The turbine is the largest in the country in terms of rotor diameter and unit capacity according to Dongfang. Its design is based on the working conditions in Chinese waters, permanent magnet direct drive and full power conversion technologies were used to achieve active typhoon-resistant performance.

The turbine is to be installed at an offshore wind farm in Xinghua Bay, east China's Fujian Province.

Dongfang Electric Corporation is a state supervised corporation engaged in the manufacturing of power generators and the contracts of power station projects. The company develops wind turbines for the onshore and offshore markets.
