The partners behind the proposed Scottish Ossian floating wind farm have submitted the EIA Scoping Report to Marine Scotland. The scoping report outlines the key technologies that are currently under consideration for the 3.6 GW project.

Ossian is currently the largest floating offshore wind project in development worldwide. It is planned to be located approximately 80 km southeast of Aberdeen, Scotland and will comprise of:

- Up to 270 wind turbines and associated floating support structures and foundations
- Up to six Offshore Substation Platforms (OSPs) with either fixed bottom foundations or associated floating support structures and foundations
- Moorings and anchoring systems for each floating substructure
- A network of dynamic/static inter-array cabling linking the individual wind turbines to OSPs, end links plus interconnector cables between OSPs; and
- Ancillary elements including sour protection and clump weights.

The scoping report submission marks the first formal submission in the EIA process and aims to agree the key focus areas that will be considered within the EIA. Marine Scotland have now circulated the scoping report and have commenced the formal consultation process.

Holly Cartwright, Development Lead for Ossian, said: "This is a great moment for the project team, along with consultants RPS, who worked together on the scoping submission.

"The Ossian Wind Farm partners are looking forward to receiving feedback and continuing to engage with stakeholders to undertake a robust and proportionate Environmental Impact Assessment for the array area."

Ossian is being developed by a consortium consisting of SSE Renewables, Marubeni and CIP. The partnership have unrivalled local and global experience as well as unparalleled technical and environmental expertise, making it uniquely placed to deliver new offshore wind in Scottish waters.
