Ensinger partners with RWE to power German plants with offshore wind energy

In a significant stride toward its climate goals, Ensinger announces a landmark partnership that will see nearly half of its German plants' electricity needs met by renewable wind energy sourced from the North Sea.

Under a ten-year power purchase agreement with RWE Supply & Trading, Ensinger commits to sourcing nearly 30 GWh annually from RWE's Kaskasi wind farm situated off the coast of Helgoland. This move solidifies Ensinger's commitment to sustainability and aligns with its mission to adopt environmentally responsible practices.

"We want to achieve our climate targets by credible means," asserts Klaus Ensinger, Head of Sustainability at Ensinger. "That's why it was important to us that the supply is sourced directly and from a newly installed renewable energy plant."

The collaboration marks a significant milestone in the company's journey toward sustainable operations, requiring meticulous planning and strategic partnerships. Ensinger acknowledges the crucial role played by enervis energy advisors GmbH, based in Berlin, whose expertise was instrumental in navigating the complexities of renewable energy procurement.

With this strategic alliance, Ensinger underscores its dedication to reducing carbon footprint while embracing renewable energy sources. The move not only exemplifies corporate responsibility but also sets a precedent for sustainable practices within the industry.
