The Irish Government has published the Final Auction Timetable for the upcoming First Offshore Competition under the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (ORESS 1).

ORESS 1 will take place next year under Ireland’s Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS), and is expected to secure 2.5 GW of offshore wind capacity.  It will be the country's first offshore wind auction and aims to support the government's goal of 7 GW of offshore installed capacity by 2030.

According to the Final ORESS 1 Auction Timetable, the Qualification Application Opening Date is 11 January 2023. The Notice of Awards is slated for 21 June 2023.

EirGrid ,the state-owned electric power transmission operator in Ireland, also published a Qualification Information Pack to provide information to prospective ORESS 1 Applicants to enable them to participate in the qualification process.

Projects which have been awarded Maritime Area Consents (MACs) are eligible to take part in ORESS 1. There are seven “Relevant Projects” (which were consented under a previous, superseded regime) which were deemed eligible to apply for MACs in Spring this year. The MAC grants the project permission to take part in auctions under RESS and also to apply to An Bord Pleanála for planning consent.
