Gazelle Wind Power (Gazelle), a company that specializes in the development of a modular floating offshore wind platform, has entered into a partnership with WAM Horizon (WAM), a renewable energy developer, to expedite the establishment of a pilot plant utilizing Gazelle's floating wind platform in Aguçadoura, Portugal. In order to ensure the successful implementation of the project, WAM plans to offer strategic advisory support to Gazelle.

WAM Horizon is a Portugal-based holding company for WAM Investments, an investment management office that is focused on the development of renewable energy assets and companies. Adelino Costa Matos, who serves as a non-executive director on the Gazelle Board and the Chairman of WAM Horizon, has vast experience in the offshore wind industry, including his involvement in the 25 MW WindFloat Atlantic Project, which was the first project of its kind in Portugal. Matos is also the founder of ASM Industries, a Portuguese wind tower and foundation manufacturer, which was recently acquired by South Korea's CS Wind.

Portugal has set a target of 10 GW for offshore wind power by 2030 and aims to become a crucial destination for this form of energy. Gazelle's lightweight, modular, and scalable solution is expected to reduce costs and can leverage existing port infrastructure to create commercial projects in Portugal in the future.

Gazelle CEO Jon Salazar said: “WAM Horizon has exceptional offshore wind experience in the region, making them an ideal partner to support Gazelle’s project and help position our one-of-a-kind platform as the benchmark solution for floating offshore platforms."
