Gazelle Wind Power (Gazelle) has reached an agreement to acquire a controlling stake in Faustino Carceller, S.L. (F. Carceller), a Spanish based naval architect and marine consulting firm. The acquisition is expected to accelerate the technical development of Gazelle's hybrid modular floating offshore wind platform.

Under the agreement, F. Carceller will operate as an independent subsidiary of Gazelle, maintaining its focus on the commercial fishing, marine, and shipping industries. Pablo Carceller will assume the role of CEO and Director of F. Carceller, while the Carceller family will retain an ownership stake in the company.

Pablo Carceller, CEO of F. Carceller, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: "This agreement allows us to continue serving the needs of shipowners and shipyards while expanding into the offshore wind market. Gazelle's unique offshore platform technology complements fishing corridors, making this partnership beneficial for both companies."

With over 35 years of experience, F. Carceller has established itself as a reputable naval architecture, engineering, and consulting company in Spain, specializing in marine vessels and structures. Their expertise will aim to enhance Gazelle's in house capabilities, including design, refitting and conversion, stability calculations, construction management, and appraisals.

Jon Salazar, CEO of Gazelle, emphasized the significance of the acquisition, stating: "F. Carceller's exceptional reputation, knowledge, and experience position them as a premier company in the naval architecture and engineering sector in Spain. Their expertise will play a key role as Gazelle enters an exciting new phase of development in the offshore wind industry. Through this partnership, Gazelle is better positioned to accelerate engineering processes, project development, research and development, and overall innovation."

This acquisition will aim to strengthen Gazelle's technical capabilities as it pursues its mission to drive the growth of the offshore wind industry, which aims to deploy 2,000 GW by 2050 to achieve net-zero emissions, according to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).

Gazelle recently announced collaborations with renewable energy developer WAM Horizon for a pilot project in Portugal and unveiled enhancements to its third generation floating offshore wind platform technology, which leverages shipbuilding industry processes for material sourcing, construction, assembly, and transportation.
