GE Renewable Energy inaugurated its logistics hub in Saint-Nazaire, France over the weekend. French Prime Minister Jean Castex, accompanied by Barbara Pompili, Minister of the Ecological Transition, and Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Delegate Minister of the Minister of the Economy in charge of the industry, attended the inauguration.

Accompanied by Jérôme Pécresse and Jean-Bernard Lévy, the Prime Minister also witnessed the progress of the current works being done offshore to prepare for the installation of GE Renewable Energy's Haliade offshore turbine.

It is supporting the 480 MW
Saint-Nazaire wind farm, currently owned by EDF (50%), Enbridge (25.5%) and CPP (24.5%), is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2022. The wind farm is located between 12 and 20 kilometres off the Loire-Atlantique coast. It will consist of 80 GE Haliade 150-6MW wind turbines. According to GE, each Haliade turbine powers 5,000 homes; the project is expected to generate the equivalent of 20% of the Loire-Atlantique’s electricity consumption.

Construction of the wind farm is progressing, with foundation installation currently underway. Earlier this month, the project's offshore substation was installed at the site.
