Petrofac has completed the load out and sail away of the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) Beta jacket foundation. The jacket is now heading to its final destination in the North Sea, where it will then be lifted and positioned in a water depth of approximately 21 metres and await the arrival of the topside for connection.

In 2019, Petrofac was awarded a contract by TenneT, the Dutch-German transmission grid operator, for the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) offshore grid connection and more specifically for the Alpha and optional Beta HVAC platforms (substations) in the North Sea.

HKZ platform Alpha is scheduled to become operational in 2021, with HKZ platform Beta is scheduled to become operational in 2022.

They will be used to transmit electricity generated by the Vattenfall's
Hollandse Kust Zuid 1&2 and Hollandse Kust Zuid 3&4 projects. It secured the rights to the projects with separate subsidy free bids in March 2018 and July 2019. They will be fitted with 140 units of Siemens Gamesa 11 MW, SG 11.0-200 DD offshore turbines.
