Northland Power Inc. (Northland) has reached definitive agreements with ESB to sell a 24.5% stake in its ScotWind portfolio, comprising the
Spiorad na Mara and Havbredey projects. Northland will retain a majority equity stake of 75.5% in each project and will continue to lead their development, construction and operation.

The partnership with ESB allows Northland to bring in a long term partner to build upon the progress already achieved in the projects' development. All existing commitments made by the projects will remain intact.

Tanya Davies, Project Director, ScotWind at Northland Power, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating:  "With ESB, we have found a highly experienced and valued partner to help advance the development of the projects, and we look forward to working closely together to realize both projects over the months and years ahead."

David Povall, Executive Vice President Offshore Wind at Northland Power, highlighted the significance of the partnership in delivering renewable offshore wind energy and supporting Scotland's target of achieving net zero emissions by 2045.

The Spiorad na Mara project is a proposed fixed bottom offshore wind turbine project located approximately 5 kilometres off the west coast of Lewis, with a potential capacity of around 840 MW. The Havbredey project is a proposed floating wind turbine project situated approximately 35 kilometres offshore to the north west of Lewis, with a potential capacity of around 1,500 MW.

These projects have the potential to provide renewable electricity to a significant number of Scottish homes and potentially contribute to substantial CO2 emissions reduction.

Jim Dollard, ESB Executive Director of Generation and Trading, expressed the importance of the partnership in delivering on ESB's Net Zero targets and leveraging their experience in Scotland. Dollard stated: "The Spiorad na Mara and Havbredey projects are an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a global partner in Northland, build on our extensive experience in Scotland, and provide synergies and learnings for similar projects in Ireland."

To engage with local communities and stakeholders, a series of public events are scheduled for June on Lewis, where the project team will be present to answer questions, gather feedback, and share updates.
