The Swedish government have announced that OX2 has received permission to build 400 MW of the northern part of the Galatea-Galene offshore wind project on the west coast of Sweden. The total capacity of the Galatea-Galene project is 1.7 GW.

OX2 is Sweden's leading developer of renewable energy and, besides the Galatea-Galene project, the company is developing two additional offshore wind projects that are yet to receive permits by the government. These projects are Triton (1.7 GW), located in the south of Sweden, and Aurora (5.5 GW), located between the islands of Öland and Gotland.

In 2022, OX2 sold 49% of the three aforementioned wind projects to Ingka Investments. This results in OX2 receiving approximately 1 MSEK per MW for the 49% of the planned capacity, once all permits have been received and both parties decide to continue with the implementation of the projects.

Paul Stormoen, CEO of OX2, stated: "It is very positive that the government takes initiative to build out the offshore wind power in Sweden. We look forward to a constructive discussion on how the projects can be realized in the fastest and most cost-efficient way to secure that Sweden can have a considerable addition of emissions-free electricity by 2029."

Peter van der Poel, CEO of Ingka Investments, commented: "Sweden is one of the countries in Europe with the best conditions for offshore wind power. We have more projects waiting for decision by the government and look forward to being part of a build out that will benefit consumers as well as business and industry in Sweden."
