Skanska has signed a contract with the Virginia Port Authority to rebuild part of the Portsmouth Marine Terminal in Portsmouth, Virginia, USA for offshore wind use. The contract was valued at €223 million.

The project will redevelop approximately 72 acres of the 287-acre Portsmouth Marine Terminal for use as an offshore wind staging port which will improve 1,500 feet of an existing 3,540-foot wharf.

The redevelopment of the marine terminal aims to support the the 2.6-GW
Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) commercial scale project. Construction began July 2022, and completion is scheduled for 2025.

CVOW is the largest planned offshore wind farm in the United States, with a capacity of 2,640 MW. It is expected to provide power for 660,000 homes. Situated around 43 kilometers off the coast of Virginia, it is expected to be completed in 2026.
