Sif firms up its contract for Japanese foundations

Foundation supplier Sif has signed a final contract to deliver 33 monopiles and 22 transition pieces (TPs) to the 140 MW Akita-Noshiro offshore wind farm in Japan. Sif will manufacture the foundations and TPs as well as providing storage at its MV2 facility and delivery at its deep sea quayside this year.

The wind farm is located in the coastal zone of Akita Prefecture, in the Akita and Noshiro districts. Kajima Corporation is acting as EPCI contractor. The involvement of Sif is no surprise as the contract was already under exclusive negotiations. It is now, however, a firm contract, and represents 25 KTon steel. Sif has stated that its order book for 2020 now totals approximately 175 KTon in firm projects.
