Tekmar Energy's TekLink Cable Protection Systems have been installed on the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) pilot project, off the East Coast of the United States. The company supplied TekLink cable protection systems and TekDuct cable crossing protection for the construction phase of the project.

The 12 MW CVOW project is the second offshore wind project to be built in the United States and the first in federal waters. It is positioned in a federal lease area about 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach and includes the deployment of two 6 MW commercial-scale offshore wind turbines.

Monopile foundations will support two Siemens Gamesa 6-MW
SWT-6.0-154 wind turbines. The pilot project is set to come online later this year and is being developed by Ørsted on behalf of American power and energy utility Dominion Energy.

Dominion plans to install a massive 2,640 MW offshore wind development off the Virginia coastline. The exact quantity of turbines to be deployed is subject to final project site conditions. All turbine installations are expected to be completed by 2026. Once online, the project is expected to provide enough clean energy to power 650,000 homes at rated wind speed.
