4C is now TGS
We are excited to announce a significant milestone in 4C Offshore's journey. Our integration into the TGS family marks the beginning of a new era in offshore wind market intelligence.
The Nordsee One project will be executed by one of the world’s biggest jack-up vessel “Innovation” that recently completed construction of the nearby offshore wind farm Godewind. After some modifications in order to be prepared for the next challenge, the “Innovation”, sailing under German Flag with Bremen as port of registry, arrived at the port of Cuxhaven. Cuxhaven will serve as the base port from which the construction works will be executed.
With a length of 147.5m, a width of 44m and equipped with its state-of-the-art Dynamic Positioning 2 (DP2) system, the self-propelled Jack-up vessel is sufficiently configured to efficiently execute offshore heavy-lifting operations and foundation installation works in challenging weather conditions. “We are very pleased to announce this important milestone for the project. Additionally, this is another step to strengthen our position under the TOP5 in the European offshore-market,” explained Peter Terium, CEO of RWE AG. “After completing and commissioning our first wind farm off the German coast – Nordsee Ost – we are now combining our expertise and experience with Northland to build the next large offshore project in the German North Sea. This is consistent with the RWE Group strategy of developing strong and reliable partnerships.” Nordsee One is located 40 kilometers north of Juist Island, in an area with shallow water and high wind speeds, ideal conditions for an offshore wind farm. It is expected to be operational in 2017, and to generate over 1,300 gigawatt hours of electricity per year, enough to meet the needs of 400,000 German households.
