First power has been produced by all 56 MHI Vestas V164-8.0 MW turbines at the Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm off the coast of Germany. The project is expected to soon begin commercial operations.

Installation of the first turbine was completed on 5th May 2018 with the final unit being placed in the 3rd September, ahead of schedule. Installation was carried out using Fred. Olsen Windcarrier's jack-up vessel
Bold Ternand completed by related company Global Wind Service in conjunction with MHI Vestas.

After commissioning,
Borkum Riffgrund 2 will have an export capacity of 450MW which is expected to power around 460,000 German households. The future operation of the wind turbines will be managed by Ørsted's operations management center in Norden-Norddeich. The project is jointly owned by Ørsted and Global Infrastructure Partners.
