The Port of Hull on the north bank of the Humber Estuary is just 20 miles from the North Sea. The port is connected by dual carriageway road links to the M62 and then M18, and M1, to service the whole of the British Isles. As well as containers, ferry travel and roro, Hull specialises in handling forest products and a range of bulk commodities, while BP has a strong presence in the chemical market. Hull is also home to the UK's first fully-enclosed cargo-handling facility for weather-sensitive cargoes such as steel.
