28 Jun 2023: The tender for the energy island has been postponed due to financial challenges. DEA has postponed the tender so that several options for a better and cheaper concept can be thoroughly analyzed. Analyzes from the Danish Energy Agency show that the state's price list for an artificial island construction could be DKK 50 billion for the entire project. Energinet will contribute to analyzes which will show whether Energiø North Sea can be established on a foundation of several large platforms and not, as previously planned, on an artificial island. The aim is to find a solution that is cheaper and less risky for the state. Tender documents due summer 2023 will no longer be published. A decision will not be taken until later 2023. Potential for knock on delays to project schedules.
