Floatgen Project Floating Wind Farm

30 Jun 2022: Update 11/10/2021: The installed LiDAR is a Wind Iris TC from Leosphere (a VAISALA Company) which can collect upstream wind measurements up to 200 metres in front of the wind turbine rotor. It will run throughout the VAMOS project until June 2022. The VAMOS project (Validation, Measurement and Optimisation for Floating Wind Turbines) aims to carry out on-site test campaigns to better understand the behaviour of floating offshore wind turbines. This new database is essential to reduce the uncertainties and risks - and therefore the costs - of this very promising technology. 17/11/2020: A nacelle LiDAR installed on top of Ideol's Floatgen demonstrator. The LiDAR measurements will provide valuable information on the incoming wind field that allows the turbine to anticipate wind speed variations. The LiDAR was deployed under the VAMOS project which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and Marinet2 H2020 Framework Programme.
