02 Aug 2022: The French government has Government announced the selection of 13 candidates who have prequalified for the 6th offshore wind tender off the French Mediterranean coast (AO6). CRE pre-qualified all those who applied, with a total of 15 applications, submitted by 13 distinct partners (table). All applicants applied for both sites, planning to leverage economies of scale. Two partners submitted two separate applications for each project rather than bundling. AO6 prequalification announcement represents the start of the competitive dialogue, allowing pre-qualified bidders and the French government to jointly outline the detailed criteria of the tender rules as well as to fine tune the areas where the projects will be located. The competitive dialogue period will end at the end of 2022 . The choice of the winner(s) will be made in the fall of 2023. All bidders foresee commissioning the two projects between 2030 and 2032. However, the deadline will be set as part of the tender negotiation phase. CRE recommends that public authorities reduce these deadlines in view of challenges posed by the energy transition and security of supply. In view of their technical and financial capacities, the Government selected the following 13 candidates: Consortium formed by BlueFloat Energy, Sumitomo Corporation and Akuo Energy groups Eolienne Occitanie Grand Large and Eolienne Méditerranée Grand Large, two project companies of EDF Renewables and Maple Power (joint venture of Enbridge and CPPIB) BayWa re - Elicio consortium Océole, an Equinor partnership IBERDROLA Ocean Winds, the joint venture dedicated to offshore wind, created and 50/50 owned by ENGIE and EDPR RWE-BOURBON Les Moulins du leonis, composed of Shell and EnBW Marine Energy Archipelago, composed of Qair – TotalEnergies – Corio Generation wpd Consortium Vattenfall Cobra Installations and Services, SA Eni Fullness
