Baltic Eagle Offshore Wind Farm

22 Apr 2022: Update 22nd April 2022: The German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) issued planning approval for a total capacity of 476.25 MW. The approval covers: 50 offshore wind turbines with a capacity of 9.525 MW each, with a rotor diameter of 174 m and tip height of 194 m above sea level; 66 kV array cabling; and one unmanned transformer platform (USP). The OWTs are erected on monopile foundations at a water depth of 41 to 45 m . Iberdrola has selected MHI Vestas Offshore Wind as the official supplier of the MVOW V174 wind turbines to be delivered and installed by 2024. For its part, the foundations will be carried out by Asturian Windar and German EEW SPC. The transport and installation of the foundations as well as the supply, transport and installation of the interconnection cables have been awarded to Van Oord. The offshore substation converts power from 66 kV to 220 kV. It will be installed and ran by 50Hertz, the transmission system operator in north-eastern Germany. The wind farm will be connected to the Lubmin onshore wind farm via two high voltage subsea cables, each measuring 90 km, which will also be installed by 50Hertz. Update 5th January 2022: according to Iberdrola the plan approval decision from the BSH is this still pending. It is expected over the coming weeks. December 2020: Baltic Eagle GmbH, Hamburg, submitted an application to the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) to continue the plan approval procedure for the construction and operation of the offshore wind farm (OWP ) "Baltic Eagle". Planning approval of the project expected Q2 2021.
