14 Oct 2019: The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) is due to update the Area Development Plan (FEP), which provides the framework for the spatial and temporal development of offshore wind farms and associated grid connections in the North and Baltic Seas. The current FEP, published in June 2019, is formed according to prior WindSeeG laws targeting 15 GW by 2030. The June 2019 FEP includes a 20 GW scenario, equating to 9.2 GW of offshore wind capacity tendered between 2021 and 2025. This FEP scenario includes the build out of areas in N-3, N-6, N-7, N-9, N-10, N-12, and O-1.3. According to the BSH, there is potential for variation from the existing 20 GW framework in the upcoming revised FEP. Changes are most likely to impact areas N-9, N-10, and N-12, whereas the BSH has already started preliminary site investigations for areas N-3.5, N3.6, N-3.7, N-3.8, N-6.6, N-6.7, N-7.2, and O-1.3 and these are less likely to be dramatically altered.
