15 Oct 2021: Update 15th October: Heerema Marine Contractors has tested its novel Rotor Nacelle Assembly (RNA) installation method offshore for the first time using floating installation vessel Sleipnir and testing DOT’s Slip Joint connection. TU Delft researchers conducted a measurement campaign during turbine installation. The data will be used to look into new control methods to reduce wave and wind induced motions of wind turbine components during installation. The monopile used was installed in 2018 as part of a previous test project known as SJOR. All components were also removed after testing. Consortium DOT, TUD and Heerema will undertake a trial turbine installation from a floating vessel (Sleipnir) using a medium-sized turbine at Prinses AmaliaWindPark in Q3 2021. This is ahead of floating turbine installations at Arcadis Ost.
