4C Offshore Empowering Intelligence
06 Jul 2023: Marine Scotland request approval from the Minister for Energy & The Environment to extend the period in which commencement of development must occur from 16 June 2024 by two years to 16 June 2026. The original consent was granted on 17 June 2019. Inch Cape Offshore Limited (“ICOL”) made the initial request to Marine Scotland on 30 March 2023. "ICOL considers that shortages and increasing costs in the supply chain coupled with increased interest rates and geo-political challenges have made it more challenging to deliver projects at AR four prices resulting in protracted construction programmes. Consequently, commencement of offshore construction is unlikely to begin before June 2024, which is five years from the date of original consent." No new or materially different environmental effects will arise as a result of the proposed extension to the commencement, hence existing S.36 consent remains valid. Statutory bodies were consulted and no objections received.
