Dudgeon Extension Offshore Wind Farm

17 Apr 2024: Update 17 April 2024: The Secretary of State has granted consent for both extension projects. The consent comes with the conditions that turbines must not: (a) exceed a height of 330 metres when measured from HAT to the tip of the vertical blade; (b) exceed a rotor diameter of 300 metres; (c) be less than 1.05 kilometres from the nearest wind turbine generator in any direction; (d) have a distance of less than 30 metres between the lowest point of the rotating blade of the wind turbine generator and HAT; (e) exceed 23 wind turbine generators in respect of the Sheringham Shoal Extension Project offshore works; or (f) exceed 30 wind turbine generators in respect of the Dudgeon Extension Project offshore works. The developer is required to agree upon a skills and employment plan with Norfolk County Council. Update January 2024: The Secretary of State has set a new deadline for the the decision on this application. The new deadline is 17th April 2024 Update Feb 2023: The Deadline for close of examination is set as 17th July 2023. The deadline for a decision should be 6-months after this, i.e. 17th Jan 2024. However, increasingly the timescales are being extended. Given project submitted a DCO application in September 2022 then a decision could be possible by Q1-2024. (1 month acceptance, 3 months pre-examination, six months examination, 3 months recommendation, 3 months decision). For complex projects, which are becoming increasingly common in the Southern North Sea, expect additional delays.
