10 Apr 2024: Vattenfall have been strategically supporting the UK Government's Wind farm Radar Mitigation programs through DASA (Defence And Security Accelerator). The aim is to install 5 passive sensor nodes on the nacelle of 5 separate turbines. The sensors will be located on the nacelles of turbines AWF01, AWF02, AWF05, AWF07, AWF10, The system comprises of up to 4 sensors per node (1 node per WTG). These sensors are: - Passive RF direction finding system (PDAR) - Micro-radar & passive radar - Electro-Optical camera (PTZ) - Passive acoustic threat detection and direction finding system - Aggregation & communications box All hardware is designed and manufactured by Livelink. A 1500mm high, 30mm diameter post will be mounted on top of the nacelle in a suitable location. The passive sensor node will be mounted to the post and the cables run into the nacelle and connected to the existing electrical and wired data connections.
