Leeuwin Offshore Wind Farm

28 Feb 2023: The Leeuwin offshore wind project was referred to the Australian Government (Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment) in February 2022 under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. The Minister for the Environment is currently assessing the project. The project will be referred to the WA Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (EP Act) in 2022/2023. Once the assessments by the Commonwealth and State Governments commence, the project will begin an extensive range of technical studies. These studies will be conducted by specialists within each field and designed to identify all potential environmental and social impacts.
