Acta Marine’s newbuild Walk-to-Work vessel
Acta Centaurus, has been delivered from Ulstein Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway. Construction of the vessel started Polish shipyard CRIST with Ulstein Verft completed the outfitting of the vessel and the installation of the SMST provided mission equipment - motion compensated gangway and 3D crane.

The vessel is equipped with a hybrid battery pack, a helicopter landing pad and a telescopic traffic compensation system mounted on an integrated tower with height adjustment and a lift for load and personnel. It is also equipped with the Ulstein's X-BOW and X-STERN design which the company claims reduces slamming and vibrations. When keeping the stern facing the weather on dynamic position (DP), Ulstein claim the vessel will be able to stay positioned with lower thruster load, resulting in a lower fuel consumption.

The vessel also offers cargo areas totalling 1,000 square metres, indoors and outdoors, with a container skidding system and space for 24 containers. All cargo handling is centralised, with stepless transfer to the cargo and personnel lift. It can accommodate up to 120 persons.

“Building on experience with our first Ulstein Walk to Work construction support vessel Acta Auriga delivered to us last year, we are highly confident that Acta Centaurus will be very well suited to operate in the offshore, and specifically the renewable market. We will now get ready to bring her out to the Offshore Wind Farm to commence work,” says Rob Boer, managing director in Acta Marine.

The vessel is named after the constellation Centaurus which is one of the largest constellations in the sky. It represents the centaur, the half man, half horse creature in Greek mythology.
It joins ACTA AURIGA and ACTA ORION as a dedicated walk-to-work vessel support offshore logistics and accommodation on offshore wind farms.
