Repsol Sinopec Resources UK (Repsol Sinopec) has confirmed plans to dismantle the two turbine Beatrice Demonstration project located off the coast of Scotland.

Decommissioning operations are expected to be completed between 2024 and 2027 and are being carried out as part of the decommissioning of the Beatrice Oil Field 22km off the coast of Caithness. The Oilfield ceased operations in March 2015.

The two Senvion 5M turbines at the site are mounted on steel jacket foundations and according to Repsol Sinopec there is no potential for their incorporation into either of the two wind farms being proposed for the outer Moray Firth, the Beatrice and Moray projects.

The two turbine were installed to assess the feasibility of establishing and offshore wind farm far from shore. Installation was carried out across two phases in August 2006 and July 2007.
