Fécamp foundations and substation ready for installation

Developers of the Fécamp wind farm announced that construction works are progressing with the sail out of the offshore substation topside and the load out of gravity-based foundations.

Atlantique Offshore Energy was commissioned to deliver the topside and jacket-type foundation design, manufacturing and commissioning. GE Grid Solutions was made responsible for high & medium voltage electrical equipment and protection control systems design, manufacturing and commissioning. SDI was tasked with the transport and installation of the structures. The topside weighs around 2100 tonnes with the jacket weighing around 1 600 tonnes. Both are to be installed this summer.
A total of 71 gravity-based wind turbine foundation are to be installed at the site at depths between 25 and 30 metres. The foundations weigh ~5000t, and will be filled with ballast once on seafloor. They feature a conical concrete base with steel transition piece. Bouygues Construction, in consortium with Saipem and Boskalis is responsible for the gravity based foundations.

The Fécamp offshore wind farm will be located between 13 and 22 kilometres off the coast of Fécamp in Normandy and is expected to produce the equivalent of the domestic electricity consumption of approximately 770,000 people, representing more than 60% of the inhabitants of the Seine-Maritime area. It is being developed by Eolien Maritime France (a joint venture between the French company EDF Energies Nouvelles and the Canadian company Enbridge) and wpd offshore.
