GDG continues to support Polish project

Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions Ltd. (GDG) has announced that it will continue cooperation with PGE Baltica as its geoscience advisor and engineering consultant on the Baltica 1offshore wind farm, which is being developed by PGE Baltica in the Baltic Sea.

The scope of work for this recent commission includes ground modelling development support, survey management, and general engineering support in relation to the foundation and cable design.

GDG previously provided the preliminary ground model, geotechnical and offshore design support on the Baltica 2 and 3 projects for Polish utility, PGE.

Paul Doherty, Managing Director for GDG, noted:
“We look forward to working with PGE Baltica again on yet another exciting offshore wind farm development in Polish waters. Over the past two years we have developed a strong working relationship with the progressive and dynamic development team at PGE Baltica and we look forward to continuing working together on this new site.”

The 896 MW Baltica 1 offshore wind project is PGE Baltica’s third concession area in the Baltic Sea, which is located about 80km from the shore. It is planned to be operational after 2030.

PGE Baltica is also developing the 1,498 MW Baltica 2 and the 1,048 MW Baltica 3 projects. First power from the wind farms is expected to flow in 2026.

Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 have already received environmental permits and signed grid connection agreements, and were awarded contracts for difference by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office on 7 April 2021. Subject to final investments decisions, Baltica 3 (1 GW) could become operational in 2026, while Baltica 2 (1.5 GW) could become operational before 2030.
