Yesterday evening (10th June 2021), jack-up vessel Blue Tern   installed the fiftieth turbine at the 950 MW Moray East offshore wind farm.

Moray East is being developed by Moray Offshore Windfarm East Ltd (MOWEL), a joint venture company owned by Diamond Green Limited (33.4%), EDPR (33.3 %), ENGIE (23.3%) and CTG (10%). It will feature 100 MHI Vestas
V164-9.5 MW turbines and three offshore substations, 22km from the coast in the Moray Firth, Scotland.

Turbine installation started in January 2021, with vessel
Bold Tern, which had to be replaced with Blue Tern because of a planned crane upgrade: Bold Tern is being mobilized temporarily to support Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy on the Yunlin offshore wind farm, in Taiwanese waters.

The project secured a Contract for Difference of £57.50/MWh from the UK Government in 2017. The wind farm generated first power earlier this month, is expected to be fully operational in 2022.
