Ørsted announced that it powered on one of two offshore substations at the the Greater
Changhua 1 and 2a offshore wind farms of the coast Taiwan.

Manufactured by
Keppel, the installation of the substation topsides was completed with support from Heerema Marine Contractors using its heavy lift crane vessel Aegir. The vessel was deployed earlier this year for the installation of the project's offshore substation foundations, which were also manufactured by Keppel.

Greater
Changhua 1 and 2a are located between 35 and 60 kilometres off the west coast of Changhua County, Taiwan and are being developed by Ørsted on behalf of project partners. They will consist of 111 Siemens Gamesa SG 8.0-67 DD offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8 MW. The wind farms will have a combined capacity of approximately 900 MW, which is expected to be enough to supply around 1 million Taiwanese households with green power.

Wind turbine installation is expected to kick off next year, with the project expected to come online in 2022. Works this year concern array and export cable installation as well as foundation installation across both sites.
