DEME Offshore's jack-up installation vessel
SEA CHALLENGER has left the port of Esbjerg and is now on route to Borssele 1&2 in the Netherlands where it is booked to install turbines.

SEA CHALLENGER arrived in Esbjerg to begin mobilisation on 6th March where the vessel had a blade rack fitted for the project. The vessel left Esbjerg on 9th April for its first transit to site. The installation work is estimate to take around five months. The 133m heavy lift vessel recently finished work on East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm in the UK where it supported SEA INSTALLER with the installation of the 7 MW Siemens turbines.

Installation is progressing at the
Borssele 1&2 offshore wind farm with foundation being completed by DEME Offshore's jack-up vessel Innovation. Ørsted won rights to the Borssele 1&2 site in July 2016, with an average bid strike price, excluding transmission costs, of EUR 72.70/MWh for the first 15 years of the project's operation.

The project will consist of 94 Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy
SG 8.0-167 DD turbines, with a combined capacity of 752 MW. It is located 23 km off the coast of Zeeland (Westkappele), and is expected to provide power to over 500,000 households once completed. The project should be fully commissioned by the end of the year.
