Cajun Wind Offshore Wind Farm

13 Dec 2023: The State Mineral and Energy Board has approved property and operating agreements for Diamond Offshore Wind and Cajun Wind to build pilot projects in state waters. These were approved at the board’s December meeting. Diamond Offshore Wind paid $308,101 up-front on its 6,162-acre agreement, while Cajun Wind paid $357,923 on its 59,000-acre agreement. DOW Wind is paying 1.5 percent of gross revenues in energy royalty over the life of the agreement, while Cajun Wind is paying 2.2 percent. The agreement is valid for a term of six years (called a ‘development term’ by the state), which can be extended to eleven years providing construction activity has commenced by 13th December 2029.
