Greater Changhua 1 - South East Offshore Wind Farm

25 Apr 2024: Update April 2024: Ørsted announced that all turbines have now been connected and are generating electricity. Great Changhua 1&2a fully commissioned. Update Feb 2024: Ørsted report that the project will reach COD by end Q1 2024. A vessel has been secured for the last four turbines. Update Dec 2023: Ørsted claims that the completion of the 900 MW Greater Changhua 1&2a offshore wind project in Taiwan Province of China will be delayed until 2024 due to supply chain constraints.Its remaining turbines will be installed and commissioned in the first quarter of 2024. Update November 2023: Due to delays in cable laying operations the project is not expected to be fully commissioned until September 2024. Update August 2023:This project is not yet fully connected to the grid, and expects to be fully commissioned by the end of 2023. Update August 2022: Orsted announced that it no longer expects to complete the installation of 111 turbines across Greater Changhua 1 and 2a in 2022, and that the projects are expected to come online during 2023. Update 18th March 2021; Orsted announced that "Ørsted kicks off offshore installation of Greater Changhua 1 & 2a Offshore Wind Farms".  Ørsted will begin laying export and array cables and installing the offshore substations and foundations in 2021 and will proceed with wind turbine installation next year and plan to complete construction the wind farm during 2022. In the Orsted's Q1 2022 Interim report , it says 'In 2022, we expect to complete Hornsea 2 (1,386MW) in the UK and Greater Changhua 1 & 2a (900MW) in Taiwan'. Meanwhile, on page 15 of another doc 'Q120 presentation' from Orsted, it says 'Offshore wind build-out plan: Greater Changhua 1&2a in 2025 & Greater Changhua 2b&4 in 2025'. 16 AUG 2019, Ørsted stated that fully commissioned in 2022, considering the Taipower grid connection work (connect wind farms to central grid) will finish by the end of 2021; Keppel is building two offshore wind farm substations to be deployed across the Greater Changhua projects. Keppel's work scope is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2021. Please be aware this project was required to reach fully commissioning by end 2021 when it was allocated of 350MW under Feed-in-Tariff (“FIT”) program in 2018. Back then, the project was scheduled to be commissioned in 2021 in line with the requirement, according to Ørsted's April 2018 timetable beside, Heerema, the installer of 111 turbines foundations and 2 large offshore substations claimed they would working during 2021 and 2022.
